Ceramic wearable art:a process.

These are the new pieces of wearable art I am working on in ceramics. Certain considerations have to be made when making art jewellery in ceramics such as the fragility, vulnerability and weight of a piece. These pendents are still in their raw clay state and I will fire them in the kiln when they are fully bone dry.

Once these pieces have been fired to 700 or so centigrade they can then be glazed and fired again in the kiln to about 1060 degrees centigrade. After that glaze firing I may  work into these pieces with other techniques such as smoke firing, enameling and perhaps even lustres.

Once the ceramic aspect of the jewellery is completed I then have to complete the rest of the piece in sterling silver, leather and other materials. As the creative process continues I will post more photos.
